It seems that Cisco has changed their mind. For long it has been told that one major step for Cisco to promote use of the new SSL Anyconnect VPN-client was to not release a traditional Ipsec VPN-client for 64-bits Windows. Cisco have received lots of critics for this, primary because Anyconnect-usage is a licensed feature in ASA Firewall in contradiction to the free ipsec-vpn-client-usage.
This peek into the download area for VPN-clients seems to change the way we look at it. Still a beta, but anyway…

A lot of people have been frustrated with the lack of support on the 64-bit IPSec… a question I can’t help but to think… is a vpn client enough in today’s world?
There are companies, such as NCP (ncp-e.com), who have been conducting R&D for quite some time now and have been able to develop technology that is more than a client, such as a personal firewall, budget manager, etc.
Will a just a client suffice?
I’ve been following this topic for some time now… here’s a recent post: http://vpnhaus.ncp-e.com/2010/02/11/is-a-64-bit-ipsec-client-enough/
